Monuments are usually built as a memoir of some event or someone. However, some monuments represent some kind of a symbol of the past, a symbol of remembrance for the generations to come. Not all monuments turn out to be exactly what they are intended to represent. Some monuments are simply a form of artistic expressionism. The monuments on our list are bizarre and unique.
1. St. Wenceslas Riding a Dead Horse in Prague, Czech Republic
St. Wenceslas is a patron of Czech Republic. It was built in 1999 in the gallery of Lucerne Palace. It is shopping and entertainment complex in Prague. Thus monument was supposed to be funny and was built as an exact opposite of a Wenceslas statue in nearby Wenceslas Square which is a symbol of Czech pride.
2. Transformer-Inspired Monument in Beijing, China
A student at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts finished building this 32-foot-tall, 2-ton “Kwansformer” in 2010. It was built in honor Chinese general Guan Yu who played an important role in the collapse of the Han Dynasty. The statue cost $41,000. It is made out of a Jiefang CA10 Chinese military vehicle.
3. Broken Chair Monument in Geneva, Switzerland
This monument was built by Louis Geneve and Swiss artist Daniel Berset. It is a 39 foot tall wooded broken chair. This gigantic chair was constructed from 5.5 tons of wood. It was done in August 1997 in front of the Place de Nations by Handicap International. It acts as a reminder of land mines and cluster bombs for politicians and visitors.

It seems that the residents in this town really like watching Sylvester Stallone in action. Now they can watch Rocky every day in a nearby park. He was built as a symbol of persistence and determination to succeed.
