Sightseeing – Giuseppe Dibenedetto
Giuseppe Dibenedetto for Do-While: “I’ve starting photographing in the 2002. I’ve studied photography and visual art at the ACF (Amsterdam Centrum voor Fotografie) in Amsterdam and IED (European Institute of Design) in Turin. I’ve been attracted by everything that is coming from the city, the city as a place and by its own territory. I considered the city a passage of a multitude of identities and constant changes. Cities and such places are temples of a process of the human renewal. My photographs are the coverage of the city outline, something that we see every day and we don’t like to paid attention to. Photography is, for me, a moment of inner meditation, fundamental to reach the essence of the time that we live in, of what we are. On many occasions I’ve been suggested to work on colors. But instead I chose to do only black&white instead to be able to alternate on colors, as I could be free to work with chemicals and pixel. I always preferred working with chemicals because I found digital photographs to be somewhat incomplete. Shooting is for me a kind of unconditional glint. My images have nothing to do with my mood or my life. The nexus is not about representing but about comparing different realities and different moods and keeping neutral and immunized any kind of external influence. Just a machine that makes a click.”
